Grateful for today. Had a rough end to the week and was not feeling my usual self. Grateful for a day with these three and my best friend baby daddy @thehfk to get outside and enjoy the simple things.

I’m so incredibly grateful for how strong my kids have been through all this. They have had the most significant changes to their lives. Vacations cancelled. Schools closed. No play dates. No swim class. No gymnastics. No birthday parties. No visits with grandparents. But they are taking it all in stride. Henry was SO amped to go to a grocery store with me today. First time in 2.5 months. Henry, I’m so very proud to be your mama.

The calm between the chaos. Any other moms feel me out there? ⁣ ⁣ They can drive you crazy with the bickering, the whining, the not listening. ⁣ ⁣ But then there’s moments like this that make you so incredible happy and grateful for the chaos that is motherhood.

Little Wil, sporting the latest in quarantine fashion.

You read that correctly. ⁣ ⁣ During the COVID-19 pandemic, physicians who are under a fee for service model have been given a special code to bill any virtual/telehealth visits. ⁣ ⁣ We have been told we CANNOT use these billing codes when providing prenatal care. The codes for prenatal care pay LESS than these visits. ⁣ ⁣ So the message we, as maternity care providers, are getting from the government of BC is that they don’t value maternal health. ⁣ ⁣ Oversight? Maybe. Or is this just the ongoing systemic devaluation of women’s health. ⁣ ⁣ If this as appalling to you as it is to me, the please let our leaders know you support the equitable compensation of family practice maternity care. ⁣ ⁣ Swipe right for email contacts to our leadership. ⁣ ⁣ It’s 2020. Enough.
